Tick ControlTick Control Program

If you’ve dealt with ticks around your yard in the past, we recommend our tick control program. Our program works to prevent ticks by using a treatment on the perimeter of your lawn.

Our tick control service ensures your yard is free of ticks to help protect your family and pets from  their diseases. Our tick prevention technique is proven effective at limiting ticks from entering your yard by applying a treatment to the perimeter of your yard, tall grass, wood lines and leaf littered areas. Start enjoying your time outdoors and stop worrying about ticks!

So Whats A Tick?  They are tiny crawling bugs in the spider family that feed by sucking blood from animals. They live in wooded, brush filled areas that provide food and cover for their hosts, which include deer and small mammals such as mice, chipmunks and squirrels. Ticks do not jump or fly; instead, they crawl and latch on to people or animals that brush against vegetation. Ticks can be found year round, but are most active from March to October depending on the winter.

The most common ticks found in Minnesota include the Blacklegged (deer) tick and the American dog (wood) tick. However, many tick species are expanding their ranges and moving into areas where they have not been found historically. In Minnesota, we have seen increasing populations of the Lone Star tick, which is normally found throughout the southwest region of the United States.

Tick Life Cycle

  1. Larvae: A deer tick starts as a 6-legged larva, which does not transmit disease.
  2. Nymph: Most cases of tick-borne disease are caused by the nymph, which looks like a freckle or speck of dirt. The nymph feeds from May through July.
  3. Adult: The larger adult ticks feed in fall and early spring, and are easier to see and remove. After feeding on deer, the female lays her eggs, which hatch into larvae in May and June.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The price varies with the size of the property and the amount of vegetation being sprayed. Multiple treatments can be done throughout the year to ensure ticks stay away. We offer a 4 application package and custom plans for anyone starting in the middle of the year.

WHEN SHOULD I START?

We begin our treatments in April or May depending on the snow melt.  Our tick treatment is applied to your yard’s perimeter, focusing on shaded vegetation.

WHY WORRY ABOUT TICKS?

Ticks are not only annoying, they’re also potentially dangerous as they carry diseases such as Lyme Disease. Around 1,000 cases of Lyme Disease are reported every year in Minnesota, which can cause notable long term problems. Deer ticks are very common in Minnesota, but they can be prevented. Don’t risk your family or pet getting bit this year when prevention for your yard can be obtained in just one visit from Turf X!

  • Lyme disease: fever, chills, stiff neck, tiredness, headache, muscle and joint pain, bulls-eye shaped rash
  • Anaplasmosis: fever, headache, muscle pain, a feeling of general discomfort, chills, nausea, cough, confusion
  • Babesiosis: fever, chills, sweats, headache, body aches, nausea, tiredness

They’ve done some weed control for me before and I’ve never been disappointed. I used to try and do it myself but I would always either kill the grass or not actually kill the weeds, they changed that! Good local business for lawn care services.
